FAQ

Q:
Who is this site designed for?.
A:
This site has been built to give the general public and other boat owners a fast, reliable method of contacting a boat owner that they see may have an issue that needs urgent attention, eg. It may be in danger of sinking.

Q:
If I see something amiss with a boat what should I do?
A:
Go to the LODGE A REPORT page and select a location. When you find a picture of the boat you are looking for click the red 'REPORT A PROBLEM' button and fill in the message box, This message will go directly to the boat owner so he/she can take timely action.

Q:
Will the HarbourMaster or his office simply notify me if my vessel is at risk?
A:
The short answer is "No". They are not required to take any action whatsoever unless your vessel is deemed a "threat to navigation" (as per Section 33F, 1f of the Maritime Transport Act 1994) and a vessel at its mooring or berth regardless of whether it is on or under the water is not considered a threat to navigation. This having been said a few Harbourmasters office's take a pro-active approach and will contact the owner if something is amiss but there is no list of pro-active harbourmasters that I am aware of.

Q:
Is my privacy as a boat owner on this site protected?.
A:
Yes. A boat owners details is not available to anyone visiting this site, even your email address is not available to anyone. This having been said, any messages entered by a member of the public on this site regarding any particular vessel will go directly to the nominated owner of that vessel.
